    SHIP AHOY!
Stunning Clipper Ship coming your way on this super rare original 1930's Seamen's Bank for Savings Draft signed by the Company Treasurer for the bank's own (most interesting) expenses and disbursements during the Great Depression Era!
The Seamen's Bank of New York was founded way back in 1839 to encourage thrift among seamen, when Lower Manhattan was the number one port in America! Its headquarters at 74 Wall Street housed one of the world's greatest maritime collections. The bank's ceramic figurines, maritime prints, savings banks, art magazines etc. are avidly sought after by collector's and yet none is as rare or
    affordable
as this draft! We have the entire known supply and it's steadily shrinking.
The bank fell on hard times in the 1980's and was taken over by Chase Bank in 1990 (now JP Morgan Chase!!).
This very rare original Seamen's Bank for Savings Draft, issued and signed by the bank's comptroller and/or treasurer in the 1930's was payable through the Manhattan Company (which merged with Chase National Bank to form Chase Manhattan Bank which was renamed Chase Bank), so the "Chase" connection came full circle.
It's the ONLY check we've ever seen that's ALL RED (or Hot Pink). It's also one of the only checks to feature the vignette of an old Clipper Ship under full sail. This same ship appeared on the bank's business cards, stationery etc.! Finally, it's ONLY available from Historic Treasures as we were lucky enough to acquire all that are known.
    Excellent clean and crisp condition!!
Serial number, dollar amount and payee may vary. A fantastic New York, banking and maritime collectible all rolled into one, priced at an unbelievable .99!  Buy multiples and each will be made out to a different old NYC firm or institution (many payee's are maritime related). A ton of Wall Street/NYC/Chase nostalgia!
